OPINION: NIGERIAN YOUTHS ARE NOT LAZY PRESIDENT BUHARI

Author: Olachi Vanessa Onyenwe
The president of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari on the 18th of April went for a business forum at the ongoing CHOGM and made a fallacious statement about Nigerian youths being lazy.
He further talked about our population estimated at a number of 180 million people, in which he claimed 60 percent of the people are above 30 and uneducated.
First of all, that is not a sentence a president of a country should make but it is not fascinating to me as it runs in the veins of Mr president to always make Nigerian look bad. I could remember vividly well on the 15 the of February, 2015 in an interview with the telegraph London, he said:
" Some Nigerians claim that life is too difficult back home, but they have also made it difficult for Europeans and Americans to accept them because of the number of Nigerians in prison all over the world accused of drug and human trafficking".
The youths of our country are the strongest hustlers I know, I call them" hustlers" because amidst all the struggles, they still strive to be better. The president sits there and talk about laziness, when he has not contributed to the progress of the country.it was the so called lazy youths that came together sometimes ago to create Bollywood without government support, we have doctors, lawyers, bankers, engineers and other respected profession all around the world same from this country, Nigeria.
Buhari talks about laziness when almost a range of 10 million jobs has been lost since his tenure began. To me, the word is vice versa, he is the lazy one here, how can a president of a country spend 103 days in a  London clinic on the verge of being sick and he has the effrontery to call Nigerian youths lazy.
Nigerians work day in, day out to make a living, despite the number of educated but jobless people in the country. There are over 3 million Nigerian  youths hawking various commodity under the scorching sun of our blessed country, yet our own president who hasn't done a meaningful thing since his tenure tagged them as "lazy".

In conclusion, the word "lazy" should not be tagged to any Nigerian youths as they are the pillar of our country.
